The Woman In Rock Show

Today we will take you through a chronological journey of the women that influenced Rock & Roll music. It's no question that women have historically been underrepresented in the music industry. When it comes to rock and roll, it's easy to credit musicians such as John Lennon or Bob Dylan as pioneers of the genre. However, many women have influenced rock and roll throughout the years, both onstage and off. Household names you may think of include Stevie Nicks or Pat Benatar, while covering some of the well known we will also introduce you to some of the overlooked but essential women who changed the landscape of rock music over the decades.

Our show will include musical performances accompanied by an informative visual/slide show presentation.

Some examples include:

Sister Rosetta Tharpe - "Strange Things Happening Every Day"

Ruth Brown - "5-10-15 Hours"

Carole King - "I Feel the Earth Move"

Ike and Tina Turner - "Proud Mary"

Janis Joplin - "Piece of My Heart"

Blondie - "Call Me"
